Welcome to Hoth, I mean, Michigan.

“This is how you transition this, this is how you transition that…” is a commonality on fashion blogs come mid-February through mid-April and then again mid-August to mid-October. But I’ll tell you this, there was no fucking transitioning going on here. It was cold. Actually, it was below cold here. On a mild day, the high was 29 with a low of 16. On a brutal day, my “Weather App” said the high was 22, with a low of -6. And don’t even get me started on those wind chills. Don’t eeeeven get me started.

With an attempt to brave the frozen tundra known as Detroit in a somewhat cute outfit, it was important to be prepared for whatever may happen. Hence, my over-the-knee boots and combination backpack-purse-satchel. If I had to trek through 12+ inches of snow, no worries, I gots mah over-the-knee boots. Not only are they designed to be over-the-knee boots, but I’m 4’11′”, so they came up way more past my knee and a little ways more up my thigh for complete leg protection. Suck on that, snow. Suck. On. That.

With mah handy dandy combination backpack-purse-satchel, I was not only able to carry all of my necessities (wallet, q-tips, keys, tampoons, vodka, ice scraper, gloves, first aid kid, etc), but I could throw it on mah back when I had to use my phalanges to dig my way through the snow.

The blush pink color of the coat is truly magical… while on a hanger. However, it seems to have matched the pink pale tone of my translucent winter wind-burned face. I was definitely not going for that. But I definitely succeeded.

Anyways, the weather is starting to warm up here and I’m finally about to shave my legs. I did hear it snowed in Utah a few days ago, so this post is still somewhat relevant. And blush pink is like the HAWTEST color of the year so far!

When the winter comin’ in ma, drop earrings like it’s hot!

I currently live in Detroit, Michigan (okay, a SUBURB of Detroit) and I grew up in St. Louis, Missouri, so I totally understand the bi-polar temperatures during the transition from autumn to winter (and from winter to spring for that matter). I’m always confused on what to wear, so layering is obviously key during these times of trouble and transition. And just to let you know, I’m awful at transitions. Even getting out of bed in the morning is a struggle. However, once I accomplish that feat, this is the thought process in my head every morning, “First comes the jeans… button down… sweater, maybe a sweater? Oh crap, I forgot underwear and a bra! Then faux fur vest, jacket, scarf?” As proven by my thought process, layering can sometimes not be the most glamorous way of dressing for you day if not executed well. And I’ll admit, I always end up looking like Ralphie in his snowsuit from A Christmas Story. Moral of the story is, the easiest way to dress up that bundled fall outfit is with a dazzling drop earring! What better way to sparkle up that grey and dreary day with a pair of these babes! Shiny thangzzz, FTW! Who can resist a pair with so many shapes, sizes, and styles?!

I’m Not a Basic Bitch Just Missing Her Pumpkin Spice Latte (PSL)

I have to admit something, I’m far from a basic bitch. First and foremost, I don’t like hot coffees or lattes, I prefer my drinks iced. But that’s not why I’m not a basic bitch. A few weeks ago, I tried a Pumpkin Spice Latte (PSL) iced, and it was like, blech. Maybe I’ll try it one more time… I’m trying a lot of new things in my life right now. Although I’m 26 years old, my beauty regimen hasn’t changed much since high school. Same make up, pretty much same hair products (shampoo) & style on the daily (shower, sleep on it, fuzz ball on the back of my head in the morning), and definitely the same underwear. Although it’s not New Years yet, I feel like the transition from summer to fall is the perfect time to make changes. Therefore, I’m pushing my beauty regimen boundaries. This includes doing/curling my hair more, accessorizing differently every day, and changing my underwear. Also, the cape is the PERFECT outerwear for the beginning of fall and can be transitioned from day to night, because who likes having to change their outerwear and underwear?! Amiright?! Amiright?!

Kourtney Kardashian Ain’t Afraid of Shit!

Despite their recent move, Kourtney Kardashian and Scott Disick’s first home in Calabasas, California is an interior design dream! I love how Kourtney trusted her design instincts. Initially, she wanted it to all be white, simple, and clean but came to the realization that this was their first house and wanted to have fun with the design while she was still young! With the help of interior designer Jeff Andrews (Google that betch, he’s amazing), they collaborated and created this beautiful masterpiece! She realized the range of possibilities and and impact the interior design could make when Andrews began showing her different wall coverings, colors, patterns, and textures. It is so important to not hold back and be as bold as you are willing to go while keeping it cohesive but giving each room its own personality! As a designer, I believe it is so important to embrace texture, color, shape, and light. They all work together and bring something out of one another! Let your freak flag fly!
